This was an interesting one and such fun to liven up this garden dining set.
Usually I am asked to just do the seat pads, but on this occasion for extra comfort instead of just some cushions the customer (the lovely Jo in Putney) requested tailor made back rests as well.
To make my life easier I borrowed one of the four chairs so that I could refine the seat pads and back rests to fit perfectly, pattern, foam size and thickness, tie positions and so on. This is how they looked BEFORE. Quishy seat pad in a dull fabric very plain.

The choice of design was to mix two- the Horsechestnut Leaves and the Oak Leaves and Acorns in the green rust chocolate colourway. I repeat patterned these into a Kaleidescope look and sized these designs to fit each pad perfectly. These designs were then printed onto a shower proof canvas perfect for outdoor furniture.
AFTER
I used a 5cm thick firm foam for the seat pads and a 3cm thick firm foam for the back rest.

The Back Rest has a section of extra material at the top which hooks over the back of the chair snuggly and velcro ties at the bottom to keep the back rest in line with the chair.
The Seat Pad also has velcro ties to hold it in place. Each pad can also be turned over should this be necessary.

They are so comfy now I can just imagine Jo and her friends spending many happy hours alfresco dining. Roll on the Sunshine.
